Over the years, more and more yacht clubs and sailing clubs have popped up around the islands. Boating has become much more popular and many of the worlds elite have chosen to bring their yachts to the islands for a vacation or simply keep one docked in Barths to compliment their vacation home. But as more and more boats are sailing the waters, the regattas are becoming more and more popular, with massively large fields in several classes.
The Yacht Club Fort Louis has noticed the trends and has taken steps to bring the sailing communities of the islands together. The club is attempting to unify the strengths and bonds of the sail clubs of St. Barths, Anguilla, St. Martin and St. Maarten. This will mark the milestone of the third consecutive year of the clubs working together to put together a killer regatta.
The event also offers a unique non-sailing experience as well. The plan of the regatta is to make ways to all different islands for different days. After a long day of battling, the teams and guests are free to sample traditional foods of all the different islands. Quite an experience this shall be.
The regatta is set for the dates of November 23th to the 25th. If you would like to register there is an easy online registration from located here. The fee is relatively low at 150 euros per team, which includes the sampler of island food and allows the team to register in one of 5 different classes. It is nice to see the different clubs working together to create great events for the islands.
