Travel Tips

Overview

There are no direct flights to St. Barths. Most North Americans fly first into St. Maarten’s Queen Juliana International Airport, from which the island is only 10 minutes by air. The airport is fairly chaotic and unorganized, so its preferable to spend as little time as possible there. Luggage does not always make the trip with you, and, if it arrives on a later flight, your hotel will send a porter to receive it. It’s a smart idea to pack a change of clothes, required medicines, and a bathing suit in your carry-on. Flights can also be taken from Guadaloupe, St. Croix, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, Anguilla, and Saba. You must confirm your return interisland flight, even during off-peak seasons, or you may lose your reservation. A 15 minute cab ride from the St. Maarten airport provides access to a high speed ferry service. Another thing to keep in mind is that planes do not leave St. Maarten at night, so you must land in time to catch the last flight or ferry at 4:50pm.
