Kid Friendly
While the island of St. Barths is perhaps the safest in the Caribbean, there are a limited number of facilities and programs especially for children. Among the luxe accommodations, the sophisticated places to eat and the secluded beaches, there are a few places that especially cater to a young child or teenager’s interests and needs. Below, view lists and descriptions of recommended kid friendly hotels, restaurants and places to play.
Restaurants
Another great option for traveling families would be to rent a private villa, where children will have access to their own television and swimming pool, and full kitchens give parents the option to prepare kid friendly meals. Space and privacy allow parents to cater to their child’s needs.
Kid Friendly Beaches:
Grand Cul de Sac: Great for children to play in the calm lagoon that remains shallow even if you walk far into the water. There are also a couple water sport rental facilities.
Shell Beach: Children enjoy exploring and collecting shells on this beach in Gustavia.
St. Jean: Another reef protected bay that is calm, beautiful and great for swimming and water sports.
Kid Friendly Hotels:
La Banane: A sophisticated and hip hotel offering babysitting upon request, for an additional charge.
Hotel Christopher: CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS. This chic hotel has a pool for children separated from the large pool by a small island. Children’s pool has a maximum depth of 5 ft.
Eden Rock: All ages welcome here. The proximity to the excitement, shops and activities in St. Jean makes the glamorous Eden Rock a great place for families with teenagers. A large selection of water sports equipment is at hand. In addition, babysitting is offered at approximately $16/hr.
Le Guanahani: A host of kid-friendly options in the island’s only full service resort. Kindergarten for children ages 2 to 6, free of charge, everyday from 9 to 5, with 11:30 lunch at L’Indigo restaurant included. The “Juniors Club” offers indoor and outdoor activities for children 6 to 12, 10am to 5 pm everyday, free of charge.
Les Ilets de Plage: The garden villas just a short walk away from the beach in St. Jean are perfect for children who want to split their time between the beach and the pool. They also offer babysitting upon request.
Les Ondines Sur La Plage: Recommended for families with young children, this hotel sits right on Grand Cul de Sac, the ideal family beach. Kids also love the fish-shaped swimming pool and waterfall.
